Memorial to World War II in Vilnius

Memorial to World War II in Vilnius
On Antakalnis Cemetery in Vilnius soldiers of the Great Patriotic War are buried, fought in the Red Army for the liberation of Lithuania from the German-fascist troops in 1944. Here are the graves of partisans and underground fighters who fought against the Nazis and died during the Great Patriotic War on the territory of Lithuania.

On May 9 a procession on the occasion of Victory Day and the laying of wreaths at the eternal flame is traditionally held to honor the veterans and the memory of those killed in World War II. Events to mark the anniversary of the May 9 Victory Day are usually ignored by the Lithuanian nomenclature, considering the results of the World War II as the reoccupation of Lithuania by USSR.
